VA fees
Under 38 CFR § 14.636, accredited agents and attorneys may charge only for services provided after VA has issued notice of its initial decision on a claim, under a written fee agreement filed with VA. Fees of 20% or less of past-due benefits are presumed reasonable.
Our VA fee is 20% of past-due benefits, contingent on a favorable result. If we don't win past-due benefits for you, you owe no fee. We don't take any part of your future monthly compensation.
| Illustration | Amount |
|---|---|
| Past-due benefits awarded (example only) | $10,000 |
| Fee at 20% | $2,000 |
| Your future monthly payments | 100% yours |
For contingent fee agreements of 20% or less, VA generally withholds the fee from the past-due award and pays it directly, so there's nothing to pay out of pocket.
Social Security fees
For Social Security disability (SSDI and SSI), our fee is 25% of past-due benefits, up to SSA's cap (currently $9,200), whichever is less. SSA must approve the fee agreement, and it can't exceed what the law allows. If you don't win past-due benefits, you owe no fee. SSA fee agreement rules.
Costs
Any out-of-pocket case costs, such as fees charged by outside providers for records or independent medical opinions, are explained in writing in your fee agreement before you sign.
We'll walk you through the agreement line by line. No pressure.
